Beginning With Books
Our Beginning with Books program aims to teach caregivers how to read to their infants and toddlers, incorporating interaction which builds language skills and cognitive development. Research shows that book reading even to infants as young as 6 months of age is important to language outcomes. Thanks to new research, we know that children's brains light up and make new connections when their parents speak to them from the earliest days. We are here to support children and families by providing information regarding the importance of reading aloud, and by demonstrating ways to engage little ones in shared book reading experiences. The Play Works library is stocked with children's book appropriate for infants through school aged children. Play Works has partnered withRead Aloud, a national campaign supporting caregivers to read aloud to their children for 15 minutes every single day.
